Study, promote, and support the role of business reference in academic libraries.


Study, promote, and support the role of business reference in public libraries.


Sponsor discussions at the Midwinter and Annual Meetings.


Study and identify the need for and improvement in business information sources both print and electronic, and promote communication between business reference librarians and the providers of business information.


Plan and produce the Section's annual conference program.


Study and review the educational needs of business reference librarians and other librarians involved in providing business reference services; explore and encourage the development of curriculum and continuing education programs.


Provide leadership, coordination and direction for BRASS, and to act for and by the authority of BRASS during the period between meetings.


Serve as the public relations arm of BRASS, with the aim of promoting increased membership and retaining existing members in the section.


Arrange for nomination of candidates for offices of the Section and for other members of the BRASS Executive Committee.


Provide advice and recommendations regarding BRASS publications to the Executive Committee; coordinate BRASS publication efforts and work with the RUSA Publications and Communications Committee through the BRASS Section Representative.

Award Committees


Administer an annual award, supported by RUSA, that enables an individual new to the field of academic business librarianship in to attend the ¹ú²úÊÓƵÍøAnnual Conference.


Administer an annual award recognizing an individual who has distinguished him or her self in the field of business librarianship.


Administer an annual award, donated by Morningstar, that will support the attendance at the ¹ú²úÊÓƵÍøAnnual conference of public librarians who are members of BRASS/RUSA, and to recruit public librarians as active members of BRASS.


Administer an annual award limited to an ¹ú²úÊÓƵÍømember seeking support in conducting research in business librarianship.


Administer an annual award that enables a student enrolled in an ¹ú²úÊÓƵÍøaccredited master's degree program to attend the ¹ú²úÊÓƵÍøConference.
